Back in November, a classic mobile game received in a sequel with the arrival of Halbrick Studios' Fruit Ninja 2. Now another popular, early smartphone title has had a follow-up after a lengthy absence, Doodle Jump 2, which is available now for iOS but currently not Android.

The original Doodle Jump game launched way back in 2009 and though there have been several spin-offs in the years since it first appeared on mobile, this is the first 'proper' sequel it has received, over a decade later. Whether or not players who remember the original will flock to it for a hit of nostalgia, however, remains to be seen.

It may have been a long time since the first Doodle Jump appeared on the mobile scene - I was still in high school - but Doodle Jump 2 hasn't veered too far away from the roots that led to its popularity soaring. You'll still be making your way up the various platforms whilst utilising tilt controls to move your characters. Lima Sky has evidently gone with the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' adage here.
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure review - "Becoming a Hero Through Small Actions"
Along the way, you'll be collecting stars that will unlock new characters. Each of them has its own stage where you'll find unique enemies and elements to contend with as you hunt for another high score. It's a good idea, rather than simply getting a different skin you're provided with a slight twist on the game formula by earning new Doodlers.

Doodle Jump 2 is available now over on the App Store and there's currently no word on whether or not it will be heading to Google Play. It is a free-to-play game with a single in-app purchase that removes ads.
Looking for more top-tier platformers you can play on your phone? Here are 25 of the best available for iPhone and iPad

Oculux is a brand new puzzle game from developer Logisk Studio that's available now for iOS and Android. It sports a minimalistic aesthetic that's coupled with a meditative soundtrack that's intended to help you relax as you make your way through the game.

It has very straightforward controls too where you'll move the on-screen orb by swiping with your finger in the direction you want to move. Each level will have a variety of traps you'll need to avoid as you collect the little diamonds that are scattered throughout each stage.
Girabox Review - "Simple puzzling but lots of fun"
You can check out some gameplay from Oculux in the embedded video below. To me, it's very reminiscent of the sliding ice puzzles in the older Pokemon games. You have to manoeuvre yourself to the goal knowing that once you've committed to a direction you have to travel that way until you come to a stop. I have no idea if this puzzle idea existed before Pokemon, it's just always been my reference point for this particular type of them.

There are 200 hand-crafted puzzles to complete in Oculux that will get progressively more difficult as you get deeper into the game. Additional mechanics such as moveable objects and portals will get introduced to add more complexity to each of the puzzles.

There was a lot of (justified) skepticism around Amazon Underground when it launched in August. But if this latest update from Amazon is to be trusted it seems to be doing alright.

Amazon is saying that in the first two months of Amazon Underground launching, the number of free apps it offers has tripled.

This has seen the likes of Monument Valley and Dumb Ways to Die 2 being added to the lineup. Dan Gray, producer of Monument Valley, seems to be pleased with it too.

"It's great that there's now a service in Amazon Underground that lets us reach millions of people that wouldn't usually pay for games, without compromising the game design or its principles," Gray said.

What's perhaps more surprising is that at least some developers seem to be making decent returns from putting their games on Amazon Underground.

It's surprising as the business model is rather unusual. It goes like this:

1) Developers make their games available in Underground2) Players download those games for free (no ads, and IAPs are all free too)3) Amazon pays the developers based on how much time players spent with their games

What Amazon gets out of this is unclear. You do need to, of course, download the Amazon Underground app and it must use tracking systems to find out how much you're playing.
Actually free?
Understandably, people have been wary of Underground due to the uncertainty surrounding what it is tracking. Aside from that, the app also grants Amazon an opportunity to connect you with its online shopping ecosystem.

But for developers it seems to be doing well. Halfbrick, for example, says that its downloads and revenue for Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja on the Amazon Appstore has doubled due to them being available on Underground.

Likewise, Tero Raji, the SVP of game business at Rovio, says that the four Rovio games on Underground have seen "up to three times more revenue compared to the same games' user revenue in the Amazon Appstore previously.”

Now, there are no precise figures given here, so it's hard to tell how much success is being had here.

And, to be honest, these claims might say more about the failure of the Amazon Appstore than the success of Amazon Underground. But, hey, more revenue is more revenue.

You can sign-up to join Amazon Underground by visiting amazon.com/underground on your Android phone or entering your email into it from a browser.

I'll make this one short, but for you (or rather, us) Fallout Shelter players, Bethesda's started the weekend off right by bringing out their newest update to iOS, Android, and PC.

Update 1.7 offers up more Quests, allowing Overseers to send their Dwellers off into the Wasteland on exploration and combat excursions. On top of this, Bethesda's taken a little more of a personal approach to the game as they're bringing us Weekly Quests, appearing every Friday (as well as special event and holiday Quests). If we're not chasing after a Raider Santa at Christmas, I'll be a little disappointed. Or, if these Quests are an utter bane to your day, you can spend Nuka-Cola Quantum to skip them.

To celebrate the launch of Fallout 4's latest add-on, Nuka-World, we'll get to complete the first special event Quest: a Nuka-World-themed mission. Once completed the mascots, Bottle and Cappy, will appear in your vault – better yet, if you tap them while they're visiting you'll be rewarded with Caps and Nuka-Cola Quantum. Tidy.

Check out the full release here on Bethesda's blog, and if you haven't done so already, grab Fallout Shelter free to play on the App Store or Google Play.

We met with Gamious this morning to hear about three of their awesome titles and were certainly not disappointed.

The first title to mention is pretty exciting; you may have heard of it before after a monumental success with its Steam release earlier on in the year. Yes, Turmoil is coming to mobile early next year and it's looking just as gorgeous as ever.

Though they're almost done with developing the game for tablet platforms, a phone adaption could be on the cards in the near future, but due to the nature of the game's design it's providing a few problems that need a little work around.

The second title is Turnbased Templars (coming at the end of the year), a strategy game about capturing land. Sounds rather aggressive but the minimal design and simple aesthetics make it easy to love. Use castles and little soldiers to defend your, and invade the enemy's, land.

After a previous soft launch made it apparent that the game wasn't totally up to scratch, Gamious took the feedback and included elements such as its AI to play against, though you can play with friends if you want to. One of the nicest elements is its no-rush gameplay. Even against a friend you can start up a game and take a turn at your leisure.
